Injury updates

Rafa Benitez confirmed that Matt Ritchie and Jonjo Shelvey are available to play against Arsenal.

Rondon and Yedlin have trained and are fit after cautions from their long flights back to the UK.

Predicted team

predicted XI against Arsenal (FB)

Rondon and Muto’s physicality can overpower Arsenal’s defence

Rondon and Muto are the ideal duo to start against Arsenal, the two summer signings have had over one month to train together, if their attributes were on the field at the same time, this could cause problems for Arsenal’s defence, Here’s why: Arsenal under Unai Emery are now more broad and industrious which is like being rough and playing dirty. Rondon and Muto both have good pace and physique to (in my opinion) handle the scrappy and dirty tactics better than how Ayoze and Joselu would. Mustafi has been called out by Arsenal fans and media for not holding his own against strong or fast strikers and knowing that Newcastle have the type of forwards that can expose that weakness of Mustafi’s game gives me confidence that this duo that should be starting against Arsenal on Saturday. What do you think about that? Let me know your thoughts.

Result prediction

Newcastle 2-1 Arsenal

The 2-1 result seems unlikely but with the time to prepare and players get back to full fitness, I see Newcastle taking the game to Arsenal and putting on the performance of the season so far. The way Arsenal play is suited for Newcastle’s style and with how Arsenal over extend Newcastle will have opportunities to counter as well as take control of possession in spells of the game.
